Illuminating the humanity of lesbian hate crime murder victim
Talana Kreeger and the resilience of her community

Park View had its Pacific Northwest premiere at the Portland Film Festival in Oregon, where Tab Ballis participated in the Ethics in Documentary Filmmaking panel!

Park View was honored to receive the Audience Choice award from the True Crime Film Fest, at the historic Strand Theater in Marietta, Georgia, where director Cameron Munson has created an event that honors victims and survivors of crime!

Lynette Miller and Kris Dempsey represented well at the 2021 Out at the Movies International Film Festival in Winston-Salem for the North Carolina premiere of Park View, as we carry Talana's story to other communities that can learn from the strength and resilience of the one in Wilmington!

On the 30th anniversary of Talana Kreeger's murder, February 22, 2020, the local preview of Park View in Wilmington, NC had a packed audience in the Church of the Good Shepherd... the only congregation in 1990 that would host the funeral of a lesbian.

"Stories such as the ones told in Park View are important to tell, to share, and to learn from. Let us amplify them, and thereby amplify each other and the community at large."

Team
Tab Ballis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Wilmington, NC who extends the potential for the expression of human stories through his media consulting firm, Family Tree Productions. Tab is a faculty member of the University of North Carolina Wilmington School of Social Work, and has also created video and online educational programs for academic and human service organizations.
Collaborating with Andy Myers of Working Films, Tab produced the short documentary, “My Marriage is not Threatened by Gay Marriage in North Carolina,” which was honored the 2013 National Association of Social Workers Media Award for Best Documentary.
As the Media Coordinator for The Frank Harr Foundation, Tab produced and directed its 2013 and 2014 SAGE Story film projects, co-sponsored by AARP and the national SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) organization.
Tab has served as executive producer and creative/technical consultant for numerous studio and independent film productions, working with the talented film community of Wilmington, NC.
Associate Producer Michael Davenport has maintained due diligence for Park View from its inception, as our Legal Advisor. Focusing on a range of specialties in his Private Practice, including entertainment law, Michael brings passion and integrity to the production: “I became a lawyer out of a deep and abiding aspiration to be of service to those in need…to be of assistance to those in peril…”
Collaboration with Associate Producer Stephen Sprinkle, and his groundbreaking book Unfinished Lives, has opened new possibilities for a more meaningful telling of the story of Talana Kreeger, informed by his extensive research of LGBTQ hate crime victims. Steve's moving narration makes Park View accessible to a much broader audience, as the production invokes universal themes that resonate nationally.
Park View's original soundtrack by Wilmington-based singer/songwriter Laura McLean captures the poignant grittiness of this story, in a manner that is true to its Southern coastal setting.
Fiscal sponsorship provided by The St. Jude's Wilmington Foundation, an LGBTQ advocacy organization located in Wilmington, NC, will facilitate tax deductions for supporters of the Park View Project, while funding their important work in Southeastern North Carolina.
